Transport Minister: Homecoming Flight Tickets Still Expensive, Travel Agents to Be Evaluated
TANGERANG – Indonesia’s Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi will evaluate online travel agents regarding discounts on homecoming flight tickets for Eid 2026.
The evaluation is being conducted because some ticket prices still do not align with government stimulus measures.
“There are several matters we may evaluate, particularly concerning online travel agents,” said Dudy at Terminal 1C of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Monday, 16 March 2026.
However, field inspections have shown that some tickets are still being sold at high prices. The Transport Ministry will coordinate with airlines and entities overseeing travel agents.
“We will discuss this with relevant stakeholders, including airlines and the tourism agency that oversees travel agents,” said Dudy.
High ticket prices are also influenced by purchase timing and seat availability.
“Some are expensive because bookings are made close to the travel date. Prices are also high because economy seats are sold out, so passengers end up having to purchase business class tickets,” he explained.
“From what I observed, some members of the public were able to enjoy discounts of up to 20 per cent,” said Dudy.
