Transport Minister: Five Train Collision Victims Remain Hospitalised in East Bekasi

Jakarta — Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said that there are still five train accident victims at Bekasi Timur Station who are undergoing treatment. The fatal collision between the Electric Rail Train (KRL) Commuter Line and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek has left 124 victims in total, including 16 who died, five still being treated, and 103 who have returned home.

This incident, Dudy said at a working meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Thursday (21 May 2026), began when the Bekasi-Cikarang route KRL set number KA 5181B was struck by a taxi at level crossing JPL 85, disrupting the train’s journey and causing one KRL set to stop at Bekasi Timur Station before being struck by KA Argo Bromo Anggrek.

Subsequently, the KRL moved a distance of 1.69 metres before halting again as the driver observed a crowd of residents on the upstream track. Shortly afterwards, Argo Bromo Anggrek arrived and collided with the KRL Commuter Line set.

Nevertheless, KNKT has not yet concluded the primary cause of the accident as investigations are ongoing and additional data are still being collected.
