Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has ensured the smooth return flow for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah on the Sumatra-Java crossing at Bakauheni Port through strengthened services, operational arrangements, and cross-agency coordination. “We ensure that the movement of people from their hometowns back to their places of work runs smoothly and safely,” said the Minister in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday. The Minister stated that he had inspected the return flow crossing from Sumatra to Java during the Eid transport period 1447 Hijriah at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung, Lampung, on Friday (27/3) and Saturday (28/3). “Up to Saturday, the return flow at Bakauheni Port has proceeded well. Thank you to all the people who, during their journeys home or back, have followed the instructions and directions of the officers on the ground,” said the Minister. Meanwhile, the total vehicles that have returned reached 144,039 units, or 60% of the total 239,920 vehicles during the outbound period. This figure indicates that around 40% of returnees will return in the coming days. Dudy stated that the Ministry of Transport, together with ASDP, the Indonesian National Police, and all related stakeholders, have prepared the operational management of the return flow at Bakauheni Port to the maximum extent possible. “We are confident that the remaining around 40% of returnees who will return to their places of work via Bakauheni Port will be served well,” he said. He also assured the readiness of return flow services at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java. He explained that regarding the crossing at Ketapang - Gilimanuk, which is related to the remaining returnees heading to Bali Island via Ketapang Port, his side has prepared buffer zones, acceleration of TBB activation (arrival - unloading - departure), and additional ships. “Thus, it is hoped that this number can be resolved,” said the Minister.
