The Transport Minister (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi conducted a direct inspection at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to ensure the implementation of the government’s stimulus policy regarding aircraft ticket prices during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri/2026 Gregorian travel season.

During his visit on Tuesday (17/03), the Transport Minister interacted directly with passengers to assess the effectiveness of the price reduction announced by President Prabowo Subianto.

Based on his observations, the policy has delivered real benefits for the public. “We observed the mudik (homecoming) flow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and asked several passengers about President Prabowo’s stimulus policy on ticket fares and how far the public could feel its benefits,” said Minister Dudy.

The Transport Minister explained that the government is providing stimulus through various sectors, including subsidies for purchase tax, aviation fuel costs, and additional surcharges. This effort automatically reduces domestic economy class aircraft ticket prices.

Initially, the government estimated the public would receive discounts in the range of 17% to 18%. However, in field implementation, the price reductions enjoyed by the public have turned out to be even larger.

“When adjusted with the government policy covering purchase tax, aviation fuel use, surcharges and other factors, the estimate is that the public could enjoy discounts of around 17% to 18%,” he said.

The Transport Minister added, “However, in its implementation, what I observed is that the public can enjoy reductions of up to 20%. Alhamdulillah, meaning the discount can be even larger.”

Beyond monitoring ticket prices, Minister Dudy also commended the revitalised Terminal 1C at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which completed its renovation in November 2025.

He praised the design concept which combined modernity with local cultural wealth. “The service is already good, and the preparation of facilities and amenities provided has given sufficient comfort for passengers,” said the Transport Minister.

He highlighted the use of rattan woven ornaments that conveyed a modern impression whilst remaining dignified and strongly reflecting Indonesian identity.

On the operational side, General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s Main Branch Office, Heru Karyadi, stated that passenger movement continues to show an upward trend. All airport operational elements have been mobilised to anticipate the surge in service users.

“We are seeing passenger movement will continue to increase up to the peak of the mudik flow on 18 March 2026,” said Heru.

The airport management also urged mudik travellers to remain vigilant against external factors, particularly extreme weather.

“We urge service users to always pay attention to flight information from airlines, anticipate the potential for schedule changes due to extreme weather, and prepare more flexible travel times,” he concluded.
