Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has emphasised that the construction quality of the Moda Raya Terpadu (MRT) Phase 2A development must be maintained at an optimal level to ensure safety, on-time project completion, and comfort for public transport users.

“It is important to maintain the quality of construction work in the MRT Phase 2A development project,” said the Transport Minister in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He encouraged cross-sectoral coordination so that the infrastructure development can proceed effectively without disrupting traffic flow or the economic activities of residents around the project area.

The Transport Minister hopes that the MRT Phase 2A construction process can continue smoothly, safely, and according to plan.

“The presence of the MRT not only improves public transport connectivity in the Jakarta region but also serves as a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly urban mobility solution,” said the Transport Minister.

Since its operation, the Jakarta MRT has consistently demonstrated positive operational performance. The MRT Phase 1 from Lebak Bulus to Bundaran HI has served 47 million passengers per year.

Meanwhile, from January to March 2026, the Jakarta MRT has served more than 11.5 million customers with a very high on-time performance rate.

“Hopefully, the development of the Jakarta MRT can become a milestone in strengthening the integrated urban mass transportation system and supporting sustainable national economic growth,” added the Transport Minister.

The Transport Minister accompanied Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka in inspecting the MRT Phase 2A Bundaran HI-Kota construction project. During the inspection, Vice President Gibran and Transport Minister Dudy toured the construction area from Sawah Besar Station to Harmoni Station.

“Overall, the Director of MRT has reported that the construction progress has reached 59 percent. By the end of 2027, HI-Monas will be connected and operational, and by the end of 2029, it will connect to Kota Station,” said Vice President Gibran.

Vice President Gibran stated that one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes is to create safe, comfortable, integrated, and modern public transportation.

To realise this, according to the Vice President, synergy is needed between the central and regional governments, including support from agglomeration areas.

The Vice President also appreciated and thanked the Ministry of Transport, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, and PT MRT Jakarta, especially the construction workers who have collaborated and worked hard to complete the MRT Phase 2A project.

The Vice President expressed satisfaction with the construction progress, which to date is in line with the plan.

“So, this is extraordinary progress. Thank you very much for working morning, noon, and night, so that the construction progress here can be on timeline,” said Vice President Gibran.

Also present in the inspection were DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transport Allan Tandiono, and President Director of PT MRT Jakarta Tuhiyat.
