Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi directly inspected the return flow of the Sumatra-Java crossing during the 2026 Eid transport period at Bakauheni Port on Friday, 27 March 2026, and Saturday, 28 March 2026. During his visit, the Minister ensured that the movement of people from hometowns to urban areas was running smoothly, safely, and under control.

“Up to today, the return flow at Bakauheni Port is proceeding well. Thank you to all the public who, during their journeys home or return, have followed the instructions and directions of the on-site officers,” stated Minister Dudy on Saturday, 28 March 2026.

Based on data from the Eid Transport Post of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, the cumulative realisation of passengers returning to Java Island from 22 March to 27 March 2026 at 14:00 WIB (H to H+5) reached 543,440 people, or about 60 percent of the total 898,864 people who departed from Java during the outbound flow.

Meanwhile, the total vehicles that have returned are recorded at 144,039 units, or about 60 percent of the total 239,920 vehicles during the outbound period. These figures indicate that around 40 percent of outbound travellers will return in the coming days.

Minister Dudy emphasised that the Ministry of Transport, together with the Indonesian National Police, ASDP, and all stakeholders, has prepared the return flow operations to the maximum. He is optimistic that the remaining outbound travellers passing through Bakauheni Port can be served well.

Safety aspects, the Minister continued, are the top priority in organising Eid transport. The government ensures that all transportation services operate to high safety standards for public comfort.

In addition, the Minister also confirmed the readiness of return flow services on the Ketapang Port to Gilimanuk route. The government has prepared various strategic measures such as buffer zones, acceleration of the arrival-unloading-departure (TBB) system, and additional ship fleets to alleviate congestion, considering that around 51 percent of outbound travellers will return to Bali Island.

On the same occasion, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the peak return flow at Bakauheni Port has passed smoothly. He hopes this condition can be maintained so that all people can return to their respective residences safely and comfortably.

Also present in the inspection were Director General of Sea Transport Muhammad Masyhud along with related officials.
