Transport Minister Backs MSME Product Sales at Transport Hubs
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, fully supports the Ministry of Trade’s programme, which provides opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to market their products at transport hubs. The Minister made this statement while inspecting the sale of local MSME products together with the Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, at Gambir Station, Jakarta, on Tuesday (24 February 2026).
“Alhamdulillah, I have just inspected the sale of MSME products in the restaurant carriages and at the Gambir Station grounds together with the Minister of Trade. In principle, I strongly support the Ministry of Trade’s initiative in opening access for MSMEs so that they can market their products through the railway business network,” said Dudy.
Dudy also expressed his hope that the reach of this programme can be further expanded. “In the future, I very much hope that the reach of this programme can be further expanded, not only marketed in railway facilities and infrastructure, but also in other locations such as terminals, buses, ports, ships, and even airports,” he added.
Dudy explained that marketing MSME products in railway facilities has significant potential. This is because the number of passengers using this mode of transport is very large each year. “Hopefully, more MSMEs fostered by the Ministry of Trade will market their products at various public transport hubs throughout Indonesia. This will allow MSMEs to grow and the national economy will also improve,” said Dudy.
On this occasion, the Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, stated that synergy with state-owned railway companies is one of the Ministry of Trade’s efforts to increase the competitiveness and popularity of MSME products in the country. He also revealed that these products will be marketed on 15 intercity railway lines, with a potential market of around 51 million passengers per year.
“So, this is one of our efforts to ensure that our MSME products are increasingly in demand by the public. Yesterday, out of 50 companies that we curated, six were selected by Kereta Api. Four of their products are served on the trains, and the other two products are at the Loko Cafe,” said Budi.
