Transport Minister Backs Logistics SOE Holding to Strengthen Global Competitiveness

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has voiced support for the transformation of state-owned logistics enterprises to enhance efficiency, strengthen global competitiveness, and streamline the national logistics ecosystem. “Regarding the logistics SOE holding, we as the regulator related to transportation will certainly support all efforts made by the SOEs and Danantara,” Dudy said in Jakarta on Sunday. He was responding to the plan to form a logistics holding company led by PT Pos Indonesia, which will initially see nine state-owned enterprises join PT Multi Terminal Indonesia. Dudy stated that the Ministry of Transportation would fully support every restructuring step undertaken by Danantara as part of the state-owned company transformation. He noted that the ministry functions as a regulator and is ready to facilitate the necessary policies to support the smooth transformation of the national logistics sector. He assessed that all business decisions, including mergers, consolidation, and other strategic steps, are part of efforts to improve efficiency and strengthen the performance of state-owned companies. “Our hope is that SOEs will not only be local players but will also become global players with their updated conditions,” the Minister said. The Ministry of Transportation is prepared to continue coordinating with Danantara and SOEs as needed to ensure the entire restructuring process runs effectively, is well-directed, and provides optimal benefits. He affirmed that the ministry’s full support is part of the government’s commitment to succeeding the SOE transformation agenda to create an increasingly efficient and competitive national logistics ecosystem. Daud explained that by 1 July 2026, seven state-owned logistics companies will merge into PT Multi Terminal Indonesia as the initial phase of forming the logistics holding under PT Pos Indonesia. The seven companies are PT Multi Terminal Indonesia and PT Prima Indonesia Logistik, currently under Pelindo; PT Pos Logistik Indonesia owned by Pos Indonesia; PT Sarana Bandar Logistik owned by PT Pelni; PT KBN Prima Logistik owned by Danareksa; PT Varia Usaha Dharma Segara from SIG; and PT Krakatau Jasa Logistik, part of Krakatau Steel. In this initial phase, the share ownership will be 73 percent held by Pelindo, 9 percent by Pos Indonesia, and 17 percent by the five other companies. By 2027, all company shares will be under Pos Indonesia. In the subsequent phase, based on a letter from Danantara Asset Management, the holding will be expanded to include PT Semen Indonesia Logistik and PT Pupuk Indonesia Logistik. “That means there will eventually be nine logistics SOEs merged under PT Pos Indonesia,” Daud said.
