Transport Minister Assures Fuel Supply for Transportation Sector Safe from Middle East War Impact
Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has assured that the availability of fuel supplies for the transportation sector in Indonesia remains secure to date and has not been impacted by the war in the Middle East.
Based on coordination conducted with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Pertamina, Dudy stated that the fuel needs for the transportation sector will continue to be ensured for the public.
“According to the explanation from the representative of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources’ Special Staff, all matters related to fuel are secure,” Dudy said at the Ministry of Transport in Jakarta on Monday, 30 March 2026.
With the assurance from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Pertamina, Dudy emphasised that the performance of the transportation sector will proceed normally as usual.
“So we must trust and believe in that, and then we will carry out transportation activities as usual,” he said.
Regarding whether the Ministry of Transport itself will issue special policies in the transportation sector related to discussions on oil price increases, Dudy assured that his side has not yet prepared anything on that matter.
Because, according to him, the availability of fuel in Indonesia is still secure at present, as previously stated by both the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Pertamina.
“So far, there has been none (policies from the Ministry of Transport). So if the Energy and Mineral Resources side or Pertamina says that fuel stocks are safe, then it means they are safe,” Dudy said.
Nevertheless, he added that in the future, the possibility of adjustments to the Upper Limit Fare (TBA) for flight tickets is not ruled out, should aviation fuel prices truly experience an increase.
“And that is also something we must anticipate. But officially, we still have to wait for what will be issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources,” he said.
