Transport Minister: 283,000 vehicles return to Jakarta during peak homecoming flow
Semarang (ANTARA) - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi estimates that 283,000 vehicles from holidaymakers will return towards Jakarta on the peak of the Lebaran 2026 homecoming return flow, expected to occur today, Tuesday. “During this peak return flow, congestion like that during the peak outbound flow on 18 March should not occur,” Dudy said in Semarang on Tuesday. According to him, during the peak of the Lebaran 2026 outbound flow, 270,000 vehicles were recorded passing through the toll road from west to east. Therefore, he hopes that the public can make good use of the toll road during this return flow. During this peak return flow, he said, toll road operators were forced to close two rest areas, at KM 62B and 52B, due to traffic density. In addition, he continued, toll road operators also carried out rest area engineering in the form of opening and closing flows to anticipate the holidaymakers. “Several rest areas are opened and closed to avoid congestion,” he said. During this peak Lebaran return flow, he advised holidaymakers using the toll road to make use of all the facilities provided. “Those who are tired can rest and should not force themselves,” he added. Traffic engineering in the form of a national one-way lane for the Lebaran 2026 return flow began to be opened on Tuesday (24/6) afternoon from KM 414 at the Kalikangkung Semarang toll gate to Cikampek Utama in West Java.
