Transport for Bekasi

From Neraca

Jakarta currently has an estimated population of eight million. That is at night. In the daytime, as many as 10 million people crowd the capital city. The excess of more than two million live in the dormitory towns of Bekasi in the east, Tangerang in the west and even in the town of Bogor in the south.

With the convergence into Jakarta of so many people in the morning, transport facilities like trains and buses are far from adequate. The situation is even worse in the evening when the suburbanites go home from work. Trains to Bekasi only run until 7 p.m..

Perumka, the state railway company, should find a solution to the transport problems of the Bekasi commuters, who need trains until 9 p.m..
