Meanwhile, the Head of the South Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit, Nanto Dwi Subekti, stated that this enforcement is a follow-up to public complaints regarding double parking fee practices in the area. “They collect parking money, even though parking is only charged once officially using a ticket,” said Nanto. The ten apprehended illegal parking attendants were given sanctions in the form of examination reports (BAP) by the Parking Management Unit of the Transport Agency. “If they repeat the offence, they will face heavier sanctions,” he said. In addition to rounding up illegal parking attendants, Nanto continued, officers also cracked down on seven street vendors (PKL) trading outside designated spots. Therefore, visitors to Blok M Square are urged to pay for parking only once at the exit and to park vehicles in the official areas provided by the area managers in partnership between the provincial government and the private sector.
