Transnusa inaugurates Jakarta-Bangkok route, boosting regional connectivity

PT Transnusa Aviation Mandiri (Transnusa) has officially commenced its inaugural flight on the Jakarta-Bangkok route. Group Chief Executive Officer Transnusa Datuk Bernard Francis stated that the inaugural flight represents a significant achievement in Transnusa’s international expansion journey and a strategic move to support regional connectivity growth in Southeast Asia. “The inaugural Jakarta-Bangkok flight is an important milestone in Transnusa’s journey. For the first time, we are providing flight services to Thailand with a frequency of twice daily from Jakarta to Bangkok,” said Datuk Bernard. Operating with a frequency of two direct flights daily, he said this route marks a key milestone in Transnusa’s international expansion strategy while strengthening air connectivity between Indonesia and Thailand. All flights to Bangkok are served via Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand’s main international airport which serves as a hub for more than 130 global airlines. The presence of this route not only facilitates travel between Indonesia and Thailand but also opens up broader connectivity access to various international destinations. He further stated that Transnusa is committed to continuously expanding its international network to provide a more comfortable travel experience while strengthening Indonesia’s connectivity with key destinations in the region. “The presence of this route not only strengthens connectivity between Indonesia and Thailand, but also opens wider access to international flight networks through Bangkok as one of the main hubs in the region,” Datuk Bernard said. As part of the Jakarta-Bangkok route launch, Transnusa is offering special fares starting from Rp2,799,000 for a one-way trip. Beyond supporting leisure travel, the opening of the Jakarta-Bangkok route is also expected to strengthen economic relations between Indonesia and Thailand through increased mobility of people, trade, investment, and MICE activities. Datuk Bernard noted that the high interest of Indonesian tourists in Thailand, along with the growing interest of Thai and international tourists in visiting Indonesia, presents a significant opportunity to be optimised through improved air connectivity. “We believe that better connectivity will drive growth in tourism, trade, and the mobility of people in both countries,” said Datuk Bernard. In line with optimism about the Indonesia-Thailand market potential, Transnusa is targeting a passenger load factor of 75 per cent in the first two months of operations and is confident this figure will increase to 80 per cent as market demand grows. The successful operation of the Jakarta-Bangkok route also serves as a foundation for Transnusa’s next international expansion step, namely the opening of a direct Bali-Phuket flight on 9 September 2026.
