TransNusa Adds International and Domestic Routes to Strengthen Connectivity

PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri (TransNusa) is expanding its flight network by opening an international route from Jakarta to Bangkok and two domestic routes from Denpasar to Wakatobi and Denpasar to Waingapu, aiming to strengthen regional connectivity, support tourism, and drive regional economic growth. Group CEO Datuk Bernard Francis stated that the launch of the three new routes is part of the company’s expansion strategy to provide better connectivity to various potential destinations in Indonesia and the Southeast Asian region. “We believe that ease of transport access is a key factor in driving growth in the tourism sector while opening new economic opportunities for local communities,” Bernard said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. The move is expected to meet the rising demand for both leisure and business travel, while expanding access to premier national destinations. Bernard noted that the high interest of Indonesian tourists in visiting Thailand, coupled with the growing enthusiasm of Thai tourists to explore Indonesia, presents a significant opportunity to strengthen connectivity between the two countries. The Jakarta–Bangkok route is expected to bolster tourism ties while supporting regional trade, investment, and business activities. The Jakarta–Bangkok route is scheduled to commence operations on 6 August 2026, with a frequency of two flights daily. All flights will be served via Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, which offers extensive connectivity to various cities in Thailand and other international destinations. The first flight will depart Jakarta at 08:20 WIB and arrive in Bangkok at 11:45 local time, while the second flight departs at 16:30 WIB and arrives at 19:55 local time. To attract public interest, TransNusa is offering promotional fares starting from Rp2,999,000 for a one-way journey. In addition to strengthening its international network, TransNusa is also expanding services to eastern Indonesia with the opening of the Denpasar–Wakatobi and Denpasar–Waingapu routes. These routes are expected to make it easier for both domestic and international tourists to reach premier destinations that previously required transit journeys. For the Denpasar–Wakatobi route specifically, TransNusa becomes the first airline to provide a direct flight from Bali to this marine tourism area. The presence of this route also reinforces Bali’s position as a gateway for international tourists to various premier destinations in eastern Indonesia. The Denpasar–Waingapu flight is scheduled to begin operations on 15 July 2026 with a frequency of four times a week, while Denpasar–Wakatobi will commence on 16 July 2026 with three flights per week. Ticket sales for both routes opened on 30 June 2026. To support the opening of these new domestic routes, TransNusa is offering special fares starting from Rp1,349,000 for the Denpasar–Waingapu route and Rp1,849,000 for Denpasar–Wakatobi. Through this expansion, TransNusa hopes to strengthen national and regional connectivity, broaden access to premier tourist destinations, and drive sustainable tourism and regional economic growth.
