Transmigration Ministry to Redeploy Patriot Expedition Team, 1,475 Participants Ready for 53 Regions
The Ministry of Transmigration will relaunch the Patriot Expedition Team at the end of July 2026. The programme, now in its second year, will deploy 1,475 participants to 53 transmigration areas to conduct research, provide assistance, and accelerate economic development based on local potential. Deputy Minister of Transmigration Viva Yoga Mauladi stated that the participants’ deployment is scheduled for 31 July 2026, with all participants undergoing preparatory training in Bogor starting 25 July. “Yes, this is the second year of implementing the Patriot Expedition Team,” said Viva Yoga. The programme is a collaboration between the Ministry of Transmigration and several prominent universities, including Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Diponegoro, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Brawijaya, and Universitas Hasanuddin. Participants include academics, lecturers, researchers, and university graduates who will be deployed directly to transmigration areas. According to Viva Yoga, the involvement of universities aims to provide quality human resources to assist in developing transmigration areas through a scientific approach. Unlike the previous year, which focused more on mapping regional potential, this year’s team will undertake more technical work. The research results compiled in 2025 will begin to be implemented to drive the development of superior products and the industrialisation process in transmigration areas. “The results we achieved in 2025 will be realised practically. So, if there is a superior product that needs to be developed, in 2026 more technical work will be carried out on how to pioneer the industrialisation process in transmigration areas,” he explained. The programme is expected to produce economic development models that can be directly applied in the regions, enabling local potential to gain added value and attract investment.
