Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) M Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara has disclosed that the Transmigrasi Patriot Programme has attracted applicants from universities around the world. “That is why we are now opening the door for them. We are also opening the door for them, who are they? Other campuses. This year, 10,395 graduates from 1,952 campuses registered. There are even global campuses, such as from Australia, some from the United Kingdom, and so on. So, they also want to join,” Iftitah stated in Jakarta on Friday. He conveyed that the Ministry of Transmigration will provide training for 1,476 Patriot Transmigrants who will be sent to 53 transmigration areas. According to him, while the previous focus of the Patriot Transmigration was on research and mapping economic potential, the current focus is on community service. “Primarily to Papua, we have already sent 1,000 Patriot transmigrants, they are from 10 main partner universities, but there are also from 147 non-partner universities,” he said. Iftitah noted that there are young people and non-partner universities interested in registering and wanting to be involved in the Transmigrasi Patriot programme. “That is why we are now opening it up so that any bachelor’s degree graduate can join,” he stated. The Ministry of Transmigration is providing an opportunity for Indonesia’s young generation to be directly involved in national development through the 2026 Patriot Expedition Team, one part of the Transmigrasi Patriot programme. Ministry Spokesperson Eva Julianti Yunizar stated that many young people want to contribute to society but have not yet found the right space to realise this. She said the involvement of the younger generation is needed to accelerate the transformation and progress of regions, especially areas that have the potential to become new centres of economic growth. The ministry is therefore organising the Transmigrasi Patriot programme to provide opportunities for the younger generation from various educational backgrounds to participate in developing the potential of transmigration areas, in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 29 of 2009 concerning Amendments to Law Number 15 of 1997 on Transmigration. The programme facilitates young Indonesians to map regional potential, identify development challenges, and formulate ideas that can support economic development and improve community welfare. The Ministry of Transmigration affirmed its commitment to transparency in the recruitment process for the 2026 Patriot Expedition Team.
