A member of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Kevin Wu, has urged PT Transjakarta to take firm action against a JakLingko driver who allegedly struck an elderly man in West Jakarta. Kevin stated that reports of JakLingko drivers speeding through residential areas are not new. “I ask Transjakarta to handle this case seriously because complaints about JakLingko vehicles speeding on roads and in residential areas are something I often hear,” Kevin said in Jakarta on Tuesday. He has given the relevant parties a deadline to resolve the matter. “I hope this is resolved soon. I have given a 2x24 hour ultimatum. If there is no good faith and no resolution, we will take legal steps,” he added. Kevin also expressed regret that the driver has not shown responsibility after the accident. According to reports he received, the victim’s family felt intimidated when seeking clarity on the case. The accident occurred on Saturday (25/7) at around 5 a.m. local time. CCTV footage shows a JakLingko vehicle with the licence plate B 2062 WV on the Grogol–Bendungan Hilir route hitting a motorcycle ridden by the 81-year-old man. “The victim was in the correct lane, while according to witnesses, the JakLingko vehicle changed lanes,” Kevin explained.
