Transjakarta Unveils Open Dining Double-Decker Bus

Jakarta, Kompas.com - PT Transportasi Jakarta or Transjakarta has unveiled the latest double-decker bus, named ‘Open Dining of Jakarta’. The bus, featuring a luxury in-bus restaurant concept, was showcased at Busworld 2026 held at JiEXPO Kemayoran. ‘This is a new innovation from the Transjakarta service and will officially operate at the beginning of June. The menus include three options: Asian, Western and local,’ said one Transjakarta waiter to Kompas.com on Friday, 22 May 2026. Furthermore, the Open Dining bus uses a double-decker, and the upper deck is designed to resemble a fine-dining restaurant. Tables on the left-hand side are for four passengers, while those on the right-hand side accommodate two. The roof features a panoramic sunroof, allowing passengers a broader view of Jakarta. The bus body is manufactured by Karoseri Piala Mas. On the lower deck there is a mini pantry to prepare a range of meals and drinks ordered by passengers. For passengers to enjoy this service they must book tickets via the TJ:Transjakarta app. As it has not yet officially launched, routes and ticket prices for the Open Dining double-decker restaurant bus service will be announced later.
