TransJakarta has disclosed the chronology of the altercation between a BRT driver and an electric car owner on Jalan Panjang, Kelapa Dua Sasak, West Jakarta, on Wednesday (4 March 2026). A clip showing the heated exchange between the BRT driver and the electric car owner circulated on social media. ‘Yes, we confirm that the driver involved is BMP 240369, Route Corridor 8 (Lebak Bulus - Pasar Baru),’ said Ayu Wardhani, Head of CSR and Public Relations at TransJakarta, when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday (5 March 2026). She explained that, based on initial findings, the incident was not triggered by a collision as circulating narratives claim, but rather because the private vehicle entered the bus lane, endangering the bus’s journey. ‘From the initial checks, the incident began when the private vehicle entered the bus lane. The pramudi (bus driver) manoeuvred to avoid a crash and then stopped the bus to communicate with the driver,’ she said. She added that during the heated exchange, the private driver had already left the bus lane and returned to the regular lane. Although the trigger was the lane violation by the car driver, TransJakarta regrets the reactive and emotional behaviour exhibited by its staff on the ground. ‘We do not condone the pramudi’s conduct during the exchange or any unprofessional behaviour. All pramudi must maintain professionalism and road etiquette in all circumstances,’ she said. As a follow-up to the incident, TransJakarta is processing the staff involved to obtain further statements. ‘We are currently conducting an investigation and internal coaching. If there is evidence of SOP violations, the pramudi will receive strict sanctions,’ she added. Earlier, a video on Instagram on the account @warga.jakbar appeared showing a pramudi in full uniform, wearing a jacket, approaching an electric car beside the busway separator. The driver appeared highly reactive, repeatedly pointing at the driver inside the car with the windows up, while issuing stern admonishments. The pramudi even placed a hand inside the car when the driver opened the window, before the electric car drove away from the scene.
