Transjakarta prioritised during traffic management for Harmoni MRT project

Jakarta (ANTARA) – PT MRT Jakarta (Persero) has assured that Transjakarta fleets will remain prioritised during the traffic engineering measures for the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP202 project in the Harmoni area, Central Jakarta.

At the Harmoni junction, vehicles bound for the city centre, particularly Transjakarta buses, will be directed to Hayam Wuruk Street via a contra-flow lane, said Ahmad Pratomo, Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta, in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He said the traffic arrangement, which runs from 25 May to 27 September 2026, will continue to provide special access for Transjakarta vehicles heading towards the city centre.

That contra-flow route will be operated with a single dedicated lane for the duration of the construction.

The system allows vehicles to use part of the opposing carriageway that is temporarily diverted to facilitate the flow of traffic. Contra-flow systems are commonly used on toll roads or major routes experiencing surges in traffic volumes.

Meanwhile, private vehicles from Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Suryopranoto, and Jalan Ir. H. Juanda heading towards the city will be diverted via Jalan Gajah Mada.

MRT Jakarta has confirmed that the Hayam Wuruk Street corridor towards Monas will not be affected during the works.

Together with the executing contractor Shimizu-Adhi Karya Joint Venture (SAJV), MRT Jakarta has prepared traffic signs, road markings and street lighting to safeguard road users.

MRT Jakarta also appeals to the public to heed traffic signs and follow on-site directions during the traffic management period.

The Phase 2 MRT Jakarta project spans about 11.8 kilometres from Bundaran HI to Ancol Barat. Phase 2 continues the north-south corridor of Phase 1, which has operated since 2019, from Lebak Bulus to Bundaran HI.

With Phase 2 in place, the total length of the north-south corridor reaches about 27.8 kilometres, and the total travel time from Lebak Bulus Station to Kota Station is about 45 minutes.
