Transjakarta Launches New 51ST Route Connecting Bundaran Senayan and Ancol for Car-Free Day
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, through its Transportation Agency, officially launched the special Transjakarta route 51ST connecting Bundaran Senayan and Ancol on Sunday (9/8/2026). This service is provided to facilitate resident mobility in the two Car-Free Day (HBKB) areas.
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, stated that this route is part of the government’s effort to provide safe, comfortable, and integrated transport options. The service operates specifically every Sunday from 06:00 to 10:00 WIB, targeting residents who wish to exercise or enjoy recreational activities.
“This route connects two HBKB areas in Jakarta, giving residents a comfortable mobility option for exercising, recreation, and enjoying public spaces,” said Pramono during the service launch in Jakarta on Sunday (9/8).
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, explained that the operation of route 51ST is supported by seven EV Hideck electric buses. This measure was taken to reduce exhaust emissions in public activity centres. The waiting time between buses (headway) is set at approximately 15–20 minutes.
On the launch day, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government applied a promotional fare of Rp1 for users. However, for operations in subsequent weeks, the fare will return to normal according to regular Transjakarta regulations, which is Rp3,500.
Route 51ST covers a total distance of 34.9 kilometres, serving 18 main stopping points. The route passes through strategic areas along the Sudirman-Thamrin corridor to the North Jakarta area.
Stops served towards Ancol include Bundaran Senayan, Polda Metro Jaya, Bendungan Hilir, Dukuh Atas, Tosari, Bundaran HI Astra, and Monas, ending at the Symphony of the Sea roundabout in Ancol. The return route follows a parallel path back to Bundaran Senayan.
The presence of this new route reinforces the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment to expanding the reach of clean energy-based mass transport while encouraging the public to switch from private vehicles to public transport.
