TransJakarta Launches Internal Evaluation After Bus Crash in Cikoko, South Jakarta
PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) moved swiftly to conduct an internal investigation following a single-vehicle accident involving an MYS operator bus with body number 19216 in the Cikoko area heading towards Pluit, South Jakarta, on Monday morning (22/6). The measure was taken to ensure operational safety standards are maintained, despite no fatalities occurring in the incident.
Head of TransJakarta’s Public Relations and CSR Department, Ayu Wardhani, confirmed that there were no passengers on board the bus at the time of the incident. The fleet was reportedly en route to its initial service point before it struck a concrete separator on the route.
“We can confirm there were no customers inside the bus when the incident occurred. Regarding the cause of the incident, it is currently still under internal investigation and being handled by the authorities,” Ayu stated, as reported by Antara on Sunday (22/6).
Concerning the exact cause of the crash involving the bus with registration number B-7190-TGD, TransJakarta management has opted to fully hand over the investigation process to the police. In parallel, an in-depth examination of internal procedures and the technical condition of the fleet is also being carried out to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
The impact of the accident, which temporarily triggered traffic congestion around the location, was successfully managed through rapid handling. The fleet evacuation process was reported complete by 08:20 WIB, allowing operations on the affected route to be promptly restored.
“Services at Cikoko Bus Stop and Tebet Eco Park Bus Stop have returned to normal operations serving customers,” Ayu added.
TransJakarta continues to coordinate with the authorities to gather field data regarding the factors causing the accident, both from the technical side of the vehicle and the condition of the driver while on duty.
