TransJakarta hands over CCTV footage of Gunung Sahari incident to police
Jakarta — PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) has handed over CCTV footage relating to an incident involving a bus fleet and a motorcycle on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Jakarta, in the Kampung Melayu direction, on Wednesday (4 March), to the police. ‘Transjakarta has handed over the CCTV footage and is cooperative, handing the investigation entirely to the police. The case is currently being handled by Ditlantas PMJ,’ Transjakarta Public Relations & CSR Head Ayu Wardhani said in Jakarta on Thursday. Wardhani said the accident, which involved the operator’s bus fleet with the registration number DMR 240205 and a motorcycle, occurred in the Kampung Melayu direction on Wednesday (4 March) at 23:31 WIB after the motorcyclist tried to overtake the bus. ‘Based on the CCTV footage, the accident is believed to have occurred when the motorcyclist tried to overtake the bus from the left side at high speed in order to enter the bus lane,’ she said. Next, the motorcycle struck a barrier (MCB), then fell onto the track and came into contact with the bus travelling at 40 km/h. As a result, one person died and was taken to RSCM; another casualty was taken to RS Hermina Podomoro. Meanwhile, the bus fleet has been secured at Pancoran Laka Lantas Unit. Wardhani then urged all road users to remain cautious and not enter the bus lane for everyone’s safety.
