Transjakarta Fare Adjustment Still Under Discussion
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) President Director Welfizon Yuza stated that the process of determining fares for the Transjabodetabek service is still under discussion. “It is still under discussion. The Governor will announce it later,” Welfizon said at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building on Monday. According to Welfizon, a decision cannot be made hastily as it must consider the impact on the public. He said the fare-setting process requires a thorough study because it involves many aspects, from the region’s financial condition to the public’s ability to pay. “Many things must be considered. There are fiscal matters, service, the condition of the community, ability to pay, and willingness to pay,” Welfizon explained. In addition to the fare amount, Transjakarta is also still reviewing the fare mechanism to be used. Welfizon could not yet confirm whether the Transjabodetabek fare will follow a distance-based system, like the MRT, or remain a flat fare. He mentioned that discussions regarding the fare have been held several times and will be continued in a meeting with the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency. “After this, we are going to have a meeting at the Transportation Agency. We have had several discussions already,” Welfizon said.
