Jakarta – Efforts to enhance passenger safety continue to be pursued by PT Transportasi Jakarta. One such initiative involves equipping buses with artificial intelligence-based driver monitoring technology capable of detecting potential risks during journeys.

Through the SYNTRA platform integrated with Advanced Driver Assistance System–Driver Monitoring System (ADAS-DMS), this technology helps monitor driver conditions in real-time. The system is designed to detect various potential driving disturbances, such as fatigue, distraction, and microsleep indicators in drivers.

Additionally, notifications are sent to the operational control centre so mitigation measures can be implemented promptly.

Currently, approximately 2,000 Transjakarta buses have been equipped with ADAS-DMS technology. From a total of more than 5,000 buses in operation, approximately 3,000 additional units will be equipped progressively.

“Around 2,000 buses have been equipped with this technology, and this year we will accelerate the implementation across the entire fleet,” said Raditya in a written statement on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

“At the same time, we are also conducting a trial of technology to detect driver sleep patterns and stress levels so that preventive measures can be taken earlier, even before the driver begins their shift,” he added.

This step is expected to help operators take preventive action before drivers carry out their duties.

According to Raditya, the deployment of this technology is part of digital transformation in Transjakarta’s operational system. He emphasised that safety is a top priority in developing public transport services.

He added that this initiative is also directed at strengthening preventive measures in public transport operations.

“Through strengthening this real-time and preventive system, Transjakarta hopes to continue improving public transport safety standards and providing services that are increasingly safe, reliable, and responsive to all customers,” said Raditya.
