Transjakarta Condemns Conductor for Altercation with Electric Car Driver in Central Jakarta; Investigation into Violations

Transjakarta is conducting an internal investigation into one of its conductors who was captured on camera in a confrontation with the driver of an electric car on Jalan Panjang, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. The step has been taken to examine alleged breaches of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by the conductor. Ayu Wardhani, Head of CSR and Public Relations at Transjakarta, emphasised that the organisation does not condone the emotional behaviour of its staff on the ground, irrespective of who triggered the incident. Although the primary trigger of the incident was the lane violation by the private car, Ayu lamented the conductor’s harsh conduct. She said that conductors, as public servants, should maintain patience and ethics while driving. “Transjakarta does not condone the conductor’s actions involving the argument and lack of courtesy. All conductors must uphold professionalism and ethics on the roads in any conditions,” Ayu said. Based on preliminary investigations, the incident on Wednesday (4 March 2026) was triggered by a private vehicle forcing its way into the bus lane (busway). “From the initial checks we have obtained, the incident began when the private vehicle entered the busway. The conductor manoeuvred to avoid a collision, then stopped the bus to communicate with the driver,” Ayu said. In the footage, the conductor, wearing a full uniform with a blazer, appears highly emotional as he approaches the white electric car located beside the busway separator. He was seen repeatedly pointing at the driver inside the car, whose windows were up, while issuing stern admonitions. The conductor was even captured placing his hand into the car when the driver rolled down the window, before he stepped aside and allowed the electric car to proceed.
