JAKARTA — PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) will add bus fleets to several tourist destinations during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holidays. The expansion aims to anticipate a surge in passengers expected to rise over the long holiday period. Transjakarta Chief Executive Welfizon Yuza said several routes will see increased services, including towards Ancol, Taman Mini, Ragunan, and Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK). ‘So to Ancol, then also to Taman Mini, Ragunan, perhaps also PIK, because there is already a PIK route. These are the routes that we may strengthen their fleets on,’ Welfizon said at City Hall, Jakarta, on Wednesday (4 March 2026).

According to Welfizon, increasing fleets is to keep passenger waiting times in check and to anticipate crowding at stops. He noted that past years’ experiences show that during Eid, movements tend to head to tourist spots. ‘These are the routes that we may strengthen,’ he added.

Besides city tourist routes, Transjakarta is also studying possible adjustments to fleets for TransJabodetabek services, such as routes to Alam Sutera and Bogor. Additions will be adjusted to field demand.

‘We will monitor demand and later adjust the number of fleets according to needs,’ he explained.

On Eid day, the Jakarta Provincial Government plans to offer free public transport across all services. From LRT, MRT, JakLingko, to Transjakarta, people can use them without charge.

As for Rp0 fares, it is explained that in the payment system there must still be a recorded value. ‘Here’s how it is: in the Transjakarta, MRT, and others systems, if Rp0 there must still be a value. So it is set to Rp1. Actually Rp1 and Rp0 are not different for passengers,’ he said. ‘Because the system must read a rupiah value and deduct it, Rp0 is converted to Rp1,’ he explained. “Meaning, for the public the service remains free, only that in the payment system it is recorded as Rp1 so that the transaction can proceed normally.”
