Transjakarta Bus Collision in East Jakarta: Conductor Suspended Immediately

Transjakarta has suspended a conductor suspected of involvement in a collision between two buses in the Kampung Rambutan Depot area in East Jakarta. The move comes as the company launches a thorough investigation into the incident.

‘At present, we are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. As a firm measure, the conductor suspected of involvement has been suspended from the entire Transjakarta ecosystem with effect from the day of the incident,’ Transjakarta Head of Public Relations and CSR Ayu Wardhani told reporters on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

Wardhani said that at the time of the incident, both buses were not in service. As a result, one vehicle sustained damage to its body and windows.

‘We can confirm that at the time of the incident the two buses were not in service. Therefore there were no passengers on board, and there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident,’ she said.

Nevertheless, Wardhani emphasised that there were no fatalities or injuries. Transjakarta also issued an apology and said the incident would serve as an important input for evaluating operational safety.

‘Transjakarta would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused. This incident will be an important evaluation for us, and we are committed to tightening safety, security, and service quality for all loyal Transjakarta customers,’ she concluded.

The collision between two Transjakarta buses was recorded and widely circulated on social media on Thursday, 21 May 2026, showing one of the vehicles with substantial damage.

In the viral video, the bodywork and windows of one bus appear to have shattered following a severe impact with another Transjakarta bus. The incident is believed to involve a conductor who was driving one of the buses within the depot complex.
