TransJakarta Bus Breaks Down in Ciputat, Causing 1.5 km Traffic Jam Towards Jakarta

A TransJakarta bus experienced a steering failure, rendering it immobile, according to the Chief of Ciputat Timur Sector Police, Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq, in a statement on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

Bambang stated that the incident occurred at 07:15 WIB and the bus was still being handled at the time of the report. “We have communicated with the TransJakarta management to ensure a mechanic is dispatched to the location of the problematic bus immediately,” explained Bambang.

The incident caused heavy traffic congestion on the route heading towards Jakarta, a situation exacerbated by the high volume of vehicles during the morning commute. “Traffic from the direction of Pamulang towards Jakarta was congested for approximately 1.5 kilometres, stretching as far as the Ramayana building towards the Ciputat flyover,” he added.

Officers from the Ciputat Timur Sector Police have coordinated with the South Tangerang Police Traffic Unit and TransJakarta officials. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid the congestion. “We urge the public to find other access points towards Jakarta, such as via KH Dewantara in front of Koramil 05 Ciputat, leading to the connection at Masjid Al Istiqomah Cempaka Putih via Rempoa towards Lebak Bulus,” he concluded.

As of the time of publication, officers remained on the scene managing the traffic flow.
