Transjakarta Apologises After Passenger Asked to Alight Over Pungent Odour
A video showing a passenger being asked to alight from a Transjakarta bus has gone viral on social media, prompting an apology from the operator. The incident, which drew mixed reactions online, involved a passenger who was reportedly the source of a pungent odour on the bus.
Head of the Corporate Communications and CSR Department of PT Transjakarta, Ayu Wardhani, confirmed the event and expressed the company’s regret. ‘In response to the viral video, we sincerely apologise for the discomfort experienced by the passenger,’ she said on Tuesday (4/8/2026).
Ayu explained that the incident began when another passenger complained about a very strong smell inside the bus. After verifying the report, staff approached the passenger in question. ‘Our officers acted based on a report from another passenger at the location regarding a very pungent odour. We made a personal approach to the passenger before they eventually alighted from the bus,’ she stated.
