Transjakarta Adds Fleet for 2026 Lebaran Return Flow: Which Routes?
PT Transjakarta is adding a number of buses to welcome returnees during the 2026 Lebaran return flow period. In addition to increasing the fleet, Transjakarta is extending operational hours and strengthening integrated routes with stations and terminals. Head of Public Relations and CSR Department at Transjakarta, Ayu Wardhani, stated that this measure is focused on main arrival points such as railway stations and intercity bus terminals, which are predicted to be centres of the return flow surge. “Different from regular operations, during the period of 13–29 March 2026, Transjakarta emphasises intermodal connectivity or first-last mile,” said Ayu in a written statement, quoted from Kompas.com. As part of this strategy, Transjakarta is increasing service frequency on routes directly connected to transportation nodes by 20 to 50 percent compared to normal days. The main routes being strengthened during the return flow are: BRT Corridor 2A (Pulo Gadung–Rawa Buaya via Balaikota), 4D (Pulo Gadung–Kuningan), and 7F (Kampung Rambutan–Juanda via Cempaka Putih). In addition, Angkutan Umum Integrasi (AUI) services such as Tanah Abang–Blok M, Senen–Tanah Abang, and Manggarai–Blok M are also seeing capacity increases. These service enhancements are focused on strategic points such as Stasiun Gambir, Stasiun Pasar Senen, Stasiun Manggarai, Stasiun Tanah Abang, and Terminal Pulo Gebang. At those locations, Transjakarta ensures a higher availability of buses, while also accelerating bus arrivals to avoid passenger build-ups. “At those locations, Transjakarta ensures higher fleet availability than on normal days, while also shortening headways to avoid passenger density,” she said. In addition to strengthening integrated routes, 24-hour services will continue to operate on main corridors such as Corridor 2 (Pulo Gadung–Monas), Corridor 4 (Pulo Gadung–Galunggung), Corridor 5 (Kampung Melayu–Ancol), Corridor 11 (Kampung Melayu–Pulo Gebang), and Corridor 14 (JIS–Senen). “Specifically, the addition of 11 bus units at Terminal Pulo Gebang from 25 to 27 March 2026 is a response to the peak return flow,” said Ayu. Ayu explained that this strategy is an adjustment from normal operational patterns to demand-based operations during the Lebaran period.
