Transjabodetabek Blok M–Soetta Route to Use Low-Entry Buses via Sudirman and Semanggi
The Jakarta Provincial Government will soon open the Transjabodetabek route from Blok M to Bandara Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta). The plan is for the new route to start operating before Lebaran 1447 H. Welfizon Yuza, President Director of PT Transportasi Jakarta (Trans-Jakarta), said the route is designed to ease travel for residents using the international airport. Therefore, the route will be served by low-entry buses. “The units we will use will be low-entry buses. The orange Metrotrans buses with a low floor will make it easier to mobilise luggage and other items,” he said. The buses will stop at roadside halts rather than Transjakarta BRT stops, to further aid those with large baggage. The route from Blok M will head via Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, pass Semanggi, the DPR/MPR building, then into the toll road to the airport. “Currently we have SH1, from Kalideres to the airport. For this one we are preparing Blok M to the airport (SH2) via Blok M, then Sudirman, Semanggi, MPR/DPR, and then into the toll road,” he explained. He could not yet confirm whether the Transjabodetabek stop points would be at Bandara Soetta’s terminals. Discussions with Angkasa Pura are ongoing about where stops would be located within their area. He noted Angkasa Pura policies aim to reduce the number of vehicles entering terminals to prevent congestion. “AP has given the green light for Transjabodetabek Blok M–Soetta; this service will offer an additional option for people to reach the airport,” he said. “If we look at last year’s figures, around 50 million passengers, the majority used private vehicles, so access from toll exits to the airport is already quite congested.” He added that the Blok M–Soetta route is planned to operate from 05:00 to 22:00 WIB, with fares of Rp 2,000 from 05:00–07:00 WIB and Rp 3,500 from 07:00–22:00 WIB. Blok M remains a popular area for Jakarta residents to spend time before breaking their fast. South Jakarta Police have increased foot and mobile patrols in the Blok M area to curb pickpocketing after a viral incident on social media. The route is expected to be a major showcase for Jakarta’s public transport in the eyes of the world, as the provincial government finalises bus readiness and supporting infrastructure along the route. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has called on law enforcement to crack down on a foreign national suspected of inappropriate conduct.
