Transjabodetabek Blok M-Soetta Airport Fare Set at Rp3,500 for Only Three Months, to Rise to Rp15,000
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has officially launched the new Transjabodetabek SH2 route connecting Blok M Terminal to Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) starting Thursday, 12 March. Although the fare is currently set at the low price of Rp3,500, this pricing policy is confirmed to be temporary.
Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that his administration will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the SH2 route fare after three months of operation. This step is being taken to balance the subsidy burden borne by the local government.
Pramono explained that the Rp3,500 fare was intended to provide convenience for the public, particularly in welcoming the momentum of the Eid Fitr exodus in 2026.
“The DKI Jakarta Government has decided that for three months, especially in welcoming Eid Fitr, we will maintain the fare at Rp3,500. After that, we will conduct an evaluation,” said Pramono whilst reviewing operations at Blok M, South Jakarta, on Thursday, 12 March.
Pramono did not deny plans for fare adjustments in the future. Based on preliminary assessments, the ideal fare for this long route is in the range of Rp10,000 to Rp15,000 per passenger.
The fare amount is influenced by the high operating costs, ranging from the use of new bus fleets to parking costs at Terminals 1, 2, and 3 of Soetta Airport which are not free of charge.
“The reasons are first because this is a long route, the buses are new and specifically designated for this, so costs need to be incurred, and also at Terminals 1, 2, 3, bus parking is certainly not free—there are costs that must be borne,” he explained.
Although the fare will eventually increase to Rp15,000, Pramono is optimistic that this route will remain the public’s primary choice. He compared the cost with other modes of transport that are significantly more expensive.
“Compared to Damri which costs Rp80,000, taxis which cost over Rp200,000, or online taxis which average above Rp125,000, I am confident this will certainly become the preferred alternative for using Transjabodetabek,” Pramono concluded.
