Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that on 17 August, the cost of transport services managed by the provincial government will be Rp 1. The move is intended to welcome Indonesia’s Independence Day.

“On 17 August we will welcome Independence Day. And for that, as Governor of Jakarta, I have decided to give a gift: all transport on 17 August managed by the DKI Jakarta government will cost only Rp 1,” Pramono said at the HI Roundabout, Jakarta, on Sunday (9/8/2026).

Accordingly, public transport such as Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta will also be subject to the Rp 1 fare policy. It is noted that on 17 August, the government will also hold a People’s Party at Monas, Central Jakarta.

“On 17 August, throughout the day from morning to night, the committee will also hold a People’s Party in the Monas area. The People’s Party will include activities such as competitions with various attractive prizes for the public,” said Deputy Minister of State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro at a press conference at the Palace, Central Jakarta, on Friday (31/7).

An entertainment stage has also been prepared. The event will be enlivened by a fireworks display, a drone show, and free food.

“There are also several performances that the wider public can enjoy, including a drone show, video mapping, and fireworks,” he said.

“There will be several other things that we can also present to the public in the Monas area. In addition, we will also provide free food for visitors who come to the Monas area,” Juri continued.
