TransJ Blok M-Soetta Fares to Increase After Three-Month Trial Period to Between Rp10,000-15,000
The Jakarta Provincial Government will evaluate fares for the Transjabodetabek inter-city bus service on the Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport route following a three-month trial period. The initial fare of Rp3,500 will be adjusted to approximately Rp10,000 to Rp15,000.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the Rp3,500 fare policy was implemented temporarily to encourage public usage of the new service.
“For three months, especially in anticipation of Eid al-Fitr, we have set the fare at Rp3,500. After that we will conduct an evaluation,” Pramono said at Blok M Terminal in South Jakarta on Thursday (12 March 2026).
Pramono explained that the Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport route covers a substantial distance, resulting in considerable operational costs and government subsidies. Consequently, fare adjustments will be considered after the trial period concludes.
“Because the burden is too heavy and the subsidy is too large, we will increase the fare. The range is between Rp10,000 and Rp15,000,” he stated.
Nevertheless, he noted that the fare would still be considerably cheaper than alternative transport modes to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. By comparison, Damri bus fares for a similar route are approximately Rp80,000 per journey. Taxis can cost around Rp200,000, whilst ride-hailing services range from Rp127,000 to Rp155,000.
Pramono is confident that if the Transjabodetabek bus fare is set between Rp10,000 and Rp15,000, the service would remain attractive to the public.
“I am confident that if it is Rp15,000 compared to Damri at Rp80,000 or taxis at over Rp200,000 or ride-hailing above Rp125,000, this will certainly become people’s preferred alternative to use Transjabodetabek,” he said.
The Transjabodetabek route from Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta Airport is served by 14 buses operating from 05:00 to 22:00 WIB. The estimated waiting time is approximately 10 to 20 minutes, with the service expected to accommodate around 1,900 to 2,000 passengers per day.
