JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the value of economic transactions in Jakarta during the Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah period has reached Rp 21 trillion up to Friday (20/3/2026). This achievement is considered to have potential for further increase, given that there are still several days left before the peak of Lebaran. “There are still five days left, and we want to break the record. The hope is above Rp 23–24 trillion,” said Pramono when met in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia area on Friday. Meanwhile, the Assistant for Economy and Finance of the Jakarta Provincial Secretariat, Suharini Eliawati, stated that the increase in transactions was driven by discount programmes held since early March 2026. “The cut-off today, 20 March, the transactions are already above Rp 21 trillion,” said Suharini. Suharini mentioned that several economic centres, such as the Tanah Abang area, have become major contributors to the circulation of money during Ramadan. In addition, the hospitality sector has also experienced an increase along with the high mobility of the community during the Lebaran holiday period. “So ‘Mudik ke Jakarta’ in Semarang alone has transactions of 8.46 billion, then in Surabaya several billion,” said Suharini. This programme offers various promotions, from shopping discounts up to 80 percent in shopping centres to tourism packages to several popular destinations in Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the programme carries the theme “Jakarta Lengang, Liburan dan Belanja Senang, Cuan Datang.” According to him, even though millions of Jakarta residents are expected to return to their hometowns during Lebaran, the capital still has appeal for tourists who want to enjoy a holiday with a quieter atmosphere. “Mudik ke Jakarta is a programme that is being held for the first time and hopefully the public can enjoy this programme,” said Pramono after a leadership meeting at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (10/3/2026).
