Trans-Sumatra Toll Traffic Surges 191.36 Percent During Eid Return Flow
JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has recorded a sharp increase in vehicle traffic on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), with some sections experiencing more than fivefold growth compared to normal conditions.
Based on data as of Tuesday (24/3/2026), the total daily traffic on the operational toll sections reached 256,641 vehicles, a 191.36 percent surge from normal traffic levels.
The most striking increase occurred on the Sigli–Banda Aceh Toll Road Sections 2–6 (Seulimeum–Baitussalam), which saw a rise of up to 541.95 percent.
Additionally, the Kuala Tanjung–Tebing Tinggi–Parapat Toll Road recorded high traffic with 60,001 vehicles, up 296.07 percent.
Other sections, such as the Indrapura–Kisaran Toll Road, increased by 210.57 percent, while the Terbanggi Besar–Kayu Agung Toll Road grew by 137.12 percent compared to normal conditions.
Not only operational sections, but also functional toll roads opened during the return flow have seen considerable traffic.
Hutama Karya is ensuring intensive traffic monitoring to maintain safe, smooth, and comfortable toll road services amid the high vehicle volumes.
The company also urges road users to plan their journeys meticulously, obey traffic signs, maintain safe distances, and ensure both vehicle conditions and driver fitness are optimal.
Drivers are encouraged to utilise rest areas for breaks to avoid fatigue risks during the return journey.
