The Tabanan Regency administration has confirmed that the student transport programme, known as Trans Siswa, will continue this year. The procurement process for the free transport service for students in Tabanan is currently at the bidding stage within the Procurement of Goods and Services Department. Head of the Goods and Services Procurement Department of the Tabanan Regency Secretariat, I Dewa Putu Mahendra, revealed that three participants have already entered the auction system. According to him, the auction winner will be announced on 22 June. “It is still in the evaluation stage. The project value is around Rp 9.3 billion with a contract period until December 2026,” said Dewa Putu Mahendra when confirmed on Friday (5/6/2026). The Trans Siswa service served 5,126 students from 22 junior secondary schools in Tabanan in 2025. The transport service, which runs across 98 routes, required a budget of up to Rp 9.52 billion. According to Mahendra, the contract signing will take place after the auction winner is determined. Following this process, the new Trans Siswa service will commence. Head of the Tabanan Transportation Agency, I Made Murdika, stated that the Tabanan Regency administration has prepared the budget to support the programme’s sustainability. However, he noted that operational services must still wait for the procurement and tender process. While the administrative and technical processes are underway, the previously free student transport is still operating under a paid scheme. Murdika said this is based on an agreement between students and drivers on the ground. “The budget has been prepared, but it is still in process. What is certain is that Trans Siswa will continue this year,” Murdika stressed. In addition to continuing existing services, the Tabanan Transportation Agency is also making adjustments and adding routes this year. The additions follow service proposals from SMPN 2 Selemadeg, SMPN 3 Selemadeg Timur, and SMPN 3 Marga.
