Trans Jateng Targets Magelang-Temanggung Corridor Operation by 2027

The Trans Jateng mass transit service on the Gelang Manggung corridor, connecting the Magelang and Temanggung regencies, is targeted to begin operations in 2027. The service for the Jepara, Kudus, and Pati (Jekuti) region is scheduled to commence in 2028. “Technical preparations, including initial public consultation with communities and businesses along the corridor, are already underway,” said Head of the Central Java Provincial Transportation Agency Arif Jatmiko in Semarang on Wednesday (29/7). Trans Jateng currently serves seven corridors with a total fleet of 115 buses. These seven corridors are located in four development zones, namely Kendal, Demak, Ungaran (Semarang Regency), Semarang City, Purwodadi (Kedungsepur), Solo Raya, Banyumas Raya, and Purworejo-Magelang. Arif explained that the development of the new corridors was planned by Governor Ahmad Luthfi together with the relevant regency and city governments since last year. Public consultation will be conducted in 2027 to finalise the collaboration and division of roles between the regency, provincial governments, and the Trans Jateng operator. Arif detailed that the operational plan for the Gelang Manggung corridor involves deploying 14 buses, with the travel routes currently being finalised. For the Jepara, Kudus, and Pati corridor, the plan will be preceded by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and a Cooperation Agreement targeted for 2027, with the route expected to be operational by 2028.
