Trans Jateng Targets Magelang-Temanggung Corridor Operation by 2027

The Trans Jateng mass transit service on the Gelang Manggung corridor, connecting Magelang Regency, Magelang City and Temanggung, is targeted to begin operations in 2027. Meanwhile, the Jekuti area (Jepara, Kudus, Pati) is set to be served from 2028.

“Technical preparations, including early socialisation to communities and companies along the corridor, have already begun,” said Arif Jatmiko, head of the Central Java Provincial Transport Office, in Semarang on Wednesday (29/7).

Trans Jateng currently serves seven corridors with a total fleet of 115 buses. These seven corridors span four development areas (WP): Kendal, Demak, Ungaran (Semarang Regency), Semarang City, Purwodadi (Kedungsepur), Solo Raya, Banyumas Raya, and Purworejo-Magelang.

Arif said the development of the new corridors was planned by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi together with the relevant regency and city governments since last year.

Socialisation will be carried out in 2027. This is aimed at consolidating collaboration and the division of roles between the regency governments, the provincial government, and the Trans Jateng operator.

Arif explained that for the planned operations of the Gelang Manggung corridor, Trans Jateng intends to deploy 14 buses, whilst the travel route is still being finalised.

Meanwhile, for the Jepara, Kudus and Pati corridor, the plan will be preceded by the signing of an MoU and a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) targeted for 2027. The route is expected to commence operations in 2028. (Ant/H-4)
