Trans Flores Route Fully Cut Off by Landslide
Traffic on the Trans Flores route has been completely cut off for five days. The road connecting Pota, East Manggarai Regency, with Riung, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), was severed due to a landslide on 17 May.
The location of the severed section is at Kampung Nanga Lok, Golo Lijun Village, Elar District, Manggarai Timur, NTT. “Traffic has been completely cut off to date,” said Police Sector Chief of Sambi Rampas, IPDA Hironimus Emilianus, on Thursday (21 May 2026).
Hironimus explained the road was cut off due to heavy rain in the area. The high rainfall triggered landslides that severed the road.
“The road has been cut off due to rainfall that has been quite extreme since Sunday (17 May),” he added.
For the time being, residents can use an alternative route by passing through residents’ gardens. Emilianus reminded residents traversing the alternative route to be cautious because the emergency road is slippery and muddy.
“There is an alternative route, via the eastern residents’ garden but it is slippery and muddy,” he said.
It is understood that heavy rain has drenched Manggarai Timur and other areas in NTT over the past week. As a result, several areas are reported to have landslides and floods.
