Tramadol Village in Cikarang, Bekasi, Raided
The Bekasi Metropolitan Police Resort raided Kampung Kavling, Cikarang Kota Village, North Cikarang Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, known as the Tramadol Village, through a covert operation.
The operation involved combined personnel from the Women’s Police Unit, Narcotics Investigation Unit, and Mobile Brigade, along with related functions, using methods of covert monitoring, intensive investigation, and direct action against suspects involved in the illegal prescription drug trafficking network.
“This operation represents our commitment to eradicating the circulation of narcotics and illegal prescription drugs by targeting areas known as hotspots for narcotic and strong medicine trafficking, such as tramadol and hexymer,” said Chief of Bekasi Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Sumarni, in Cikarang on Monday (6/4).
During the activity, officers successfully uncovered the illegal prescription drug trade and secured several pieces of evidence from various locations in the Kampung Kavling area.
From the raid, officers seized 920 tramadol tablets and 23 alprazolam tablets ready for illegal distribution.
Police named two suspects, while two other perpetrators, initials A and M, are still being pursued as they are suspected to be part of the trafficking network.
Not stopping there, officers also uncovered the practice of circulating Schedule G prescription drugs within the kavling area, specifically in Klaster Kendua. Officers secured two motorbike riders passing through the location.
After a search, evidence was found in the form of six tramadol tablets and two hexymer tablets.
From initial examinations, both admitted to obtaining the items from the Sukaraya area, Karangbahagia Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency.
“In addition, officers found additional evidence in the form of 25 tramadol tablets and cash of Rp50,000, suspected to be proceeds from the sale of illegal prescription drugs,” she said.
Sumarni emphasised that she would not give any leeway to drug crime perpetrators in her jurisdiction.
She also warned perpetrators to immediately stop their illegal activities that could damage the nation’s future.
“There is no room for fear. We will continue to move, dismantle, and firmly prosecute every form of tramadol, hexymer, and other prescription drug trafficking. This is our commitment to protecting the community, especially the younger generation. We stand at the forefront, ensuring our children’s future is free from strong medications,” she explained.
In addition to law enforcement, her side prioritises preventive and educational approaches by inviting the community to actively provide information and increase vigilance against the dangers of prescription drugs in their surroundings.
According to the Chief of Police, synergy between residents and the police is the key to creating a safe and clean environment from prescription drug trafficking.
Bekasi Metropolitan Police Resort opens complaint services for the public through the Direct Chat to Mother Chief of Police Programme (CLBK), the National Police call centre at number 110, and 24-hour complaint services to support ongoing drug eradication efforts.
“With operations that continue to be intensified, it is hoped that the Kampung Kavling area can be free from prescription drug trafficking, while creating a safe and conducive public order and security situation in Bekasi Regency,” she said.
