A morning train run off the track in Purwakarta, West Java, just 200 meters before it finished its journey from Garut, also in West Java. The accident caused a one-and-a-half hour delay to all trains using the tracks, including the Parahiyangan plying Jakarta to Bandung and its first-class version Argogede.

Another accident took place around 10 hours later on the day, when a train with six crew aboard went 300 meters out of the track in Cilacap, Central Java, on its way to Bandung. The train, comprising of 11 cars, was supposed to carry Idul Fitri holiday revelers.

Clearance works of the derailed cars forced a closedown of the southern lane spanning from Purwokerto in Central Java to Bandung for seven hours.
