Trains change routes

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: Train services from Cilacap, Central
Java, to Jakarta via Bandung, West Java, have to be rerouted due
to a recent landslide in Ngamprah near Bandung.

Singgih Abadi, head of the Purwokerto office of the state
railway company Perumka, said on Saturday that the Serayu I and
Serayu III trains would be taking the route through northern Java
for the time being.

Abadi was quoted by Antara as saying that the during the
current rainy season, officers will monitor and provide
information about routes which are considered "dangerous" for
trains.

Areas considered to be prone to landslides and floods include
the Logawa bridge in Karanggandul, Banyumas, and Kawunganten
Jeruklegi in Central Java.

"Better communication with train drivers will prevent
accidents," Abadi said. (31)
