Training for car vendors

JAKARTA (JP): The country's largest automaker, PT Astra
International has cooperated with state-owned surveyor Sucofindo
to help small and medium-sized auto parts vendors obtain the ISO-
9000 certification.

An executive of Sucofindo, Arief Safari said yesterday that
receiving an ISO 9000 certification is necessary to enable local
auto parts makers penetrate foreign markets.

Currently, through PT Astra Mobil and Dharma Bhakti Astra
Foundation (YDBA), Astra provides training for nine small and
medium car component vendors. Astra and Sucofindo jointly finance
the training program.

The trading program to assist the companies meet the ISO 9000
requirements. (09)
