Train services in Daop 1 Jakarta remain smooth despite volcanic ash dispersal

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta has ensured that train journeys are safe, smooth, and in accordance with current operational conditions, despite the dispersal of volcanic ash caused by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau on Sunday.

“The dispersal of volcanic ash observed in several areas has so far not disrupted the safety or smoothness of train travel,” said the Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, in an official statement on Sunday.

Franoto stated that the company is continuously monitoring and supervising the condition of railway tracks and stations.

He noted that KAI has deployed personnel at stations and along the railway lines to conduct regular monitoring and to anticipate any changes in conditions resulting from the volcanic ash dispersal.

“We ensure that the aspect of train travel safety remains our top priority. Our officers are continuously monitoring track conditions, stations, and the visibility of drivers throughout the journey,” said Franoto.

KAI, he added, is also continuing to coordinate and monitor information updates from relevant agencies regarding the activity of Mount Anak Krakatau and the movement of the volcanic ash dispersal.

Should there be any changes in conditions that have the potential to affect train services, KAI will implement handling measures in accordance with applicable safety procedures.

Franoto urged the public and passengers to remain calm and not to worry about travelling by train.

“The public does not need to worry. We are monitoring the situation intensively and will prioritise the safety of customers, staff, and train journeys in every operational decision,” he said.
