Train Services Disrupted by Landslide, KAI Accelerates Track Clearance on Maswati–Sasaksaat Route
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has expressed apologies for the disruption to the journey of KA 174 Ciremai and several other trains due to a landslide in the Maswati–Sasaksaat track section (MSI–SKT) that blocked the crossing at kilometre (KM) 142+8/9, on Wednesday (1/4/2026). Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the company is accelerating the cleaning of the tracks and the evacuation of affected facilities so that train operations can return to normal as soon as possible. “We are handling this quickly by involving all relevant parties. Based on the on-site estimate, this process is projected to be completed in approximately five hours since 4:30 PM WIB,” she said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Wednesday. In addition, KAI is also adjusting the journeys of several trains to maintain safety and service smoothness. “Safety remains our top priority. All handling processes are carried out quickly and measurably so that train journeys can return to normal soon,” Anne emphasised.
