Train services

From Sinar Pagi

Some time ago I wanted to buy a Jakarta-Surabaya ticket at Senen station in Central Jakarta.

People were queuing in front of the ticket counter. I wanted to reserve a seat on the Ekonomi Gaya Baru train for July 16. A railway employee ordered me around. I had to fill out a form stating the name of the train desired, the destination, my full name and address. I had to submit the form at the registration counter where I would have to stand in line again.

I know that during the holiday season the demand for tickets is high. The state railway company Perumka should be prepared to deal with this and devise a special strategy to cope with the situation.

It's ironic that in this modern era Perumka lacks professionalism. The company should be aware that its success depends on its service. Customers should not be sent from counter to counter.

I appeal to the Senen station chief to improve the company's public service.
