JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has recorded an improvement in punctuality performance, or On Time Performance (OTP), exceeding 90 percent in the first quarter of 2026 for both passenger and freight transport.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that for passenger services, the departure OTP reached 99.69 percent and arrival 97.67 percent.

“These figures are an increase compared to the first quarter of 2025, with departures at 99.24 percent and arrivals at 95.44 percent. This consistency makes journeys more measurable from start to destination,” said Anne in an official statement on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

This performance is higher than the same period in the previous year, with departures at 95.89 percent and arrivals at 87.04 percent.

“This punctuality supports logistics distribution that continues to run safely and according to needs. This improvement is supported by infrastructure readiness, equipment reliability, and operational discipline that aligns with safety standards,” Anne added.

“Punctuality and safety go hand in hand in every journey. All processes are planned and executed meticulously so that customers can travel with peace of mind and transported goods arrive as required,” Anne continued.

Throughout the first quarter of 2026, KAI’s long-distance and local train services served 14.5 million customers, an 18.4 percent increase from 12.2 million customers in the same period the previous year.

In the logistics sector, KAI transported 12 million tonnes of coal to maintain electricity supply in Java and Bali.

Additionally, 2.8 million tonnes of other goods were transported, ranging from containers, plantation products, to retail shipments that support economic activities in various regions.

Consistent schedules aid more certain planning, while goods distribution continues to flow safely.

“On-time journeys help activities proceed as planned. The public can move with greater certainty, while goods distribution arrives as needed,” Anne emphasised.
