Train Passengers During School Holidays Exceed 1.1 Million
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta recorded that the number of train passengers during the school holiday period from 20 June to 5 July 2026 reached 1.16 million people. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, stated that during this period, 577,789 passengers departed and 584,232 passengers arrived at various stations within the Daop 1 Jakarta area. ‘The high public interest shows that trains remain a reliable mode of transport that is safe, comfortable, and punctual,’ he said in Jakarta on Sunday. During the school holiday period, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta provided 629,648 seats for long-distance trains, with bookings reaching 570,032 tickets or an occupancy rate of approximately 90.5 per cent. In addition to long-distance trains, local train services also received a positive response from the public. The Pangrango Train recorded total bookings of 62,121 tickets, while the Siliwangi Train recorded 28,548 tickets during the school holiday period. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta also noted high utilisation of the 30 per cent Holiday Discount programme for commercial economy class trains. Of the 308,648 seats provided, 299,329 tickets were sold, or approximately 97 per cent. ‘We appreciate the high public enthusiasm during the school holiday period. We will continue to be committed to providing safe, secure, comfortable, and sustainable transport services for all customers,’ said Franoto.
