Train Luggage Limits: KAI Sets Size and Weight Restrictions for Cabin Baggage
For those of you who enjoy travelling by train and bringing luggage, there are some things you need to know. KAI has announced the regulations regarding the size and weight of luggage that is allowed in the train cabin.
According to a post on the Instagram account @kai121_, the maximum allowable volume of luggage that can be brought into the train cabin is 100 dm³, with maximum dimensions of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm, and a maximum weight of 20 kg. Therefore, the maximum size of luggage that can be brought into the cabin is 26 inches.
What happens if the luggage is larger than 26 inches and weighs more than 20 kg? Here are the regulations.
If passengers bring luggage larger than 26 inches, they will be subject to excess baggage charges, as long as the size does not exceed 100 dm³, with maximum dimensions of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm, and a maximum weight of 20 kg.
However, if the luggage has dimensions larger than 200 dm³ (70 cm x 48 cm x 60 cm), it is not allowed in the train and passengers are advised to use a delivery service.
This policy aims to continue providing comfort for other passengers who are entitled to use the luggage racks, as well as ensuring the safety of the journey.
Excess Baggage Regulations
Passengers who are found to be carrying baggage exceeding the regulations will be charged a fee according to their train class as follows:
Executive: Rp 10,000/kg
Business: Rp 6,000/kg
Economy: Rp 2,000/kg
